After a well-earned break the Junior Redbacks are straight back into action this week, with training beginning for both Junior TAS Tennis and Touch Football. Touch training will take place on Thursday during sport time, whilst Tennis will train during sport time on a Thursday and also once a week on either Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning.
One the wonderful parts about Term 4 sport at Ormiston College is the continuation of participation, inclusion and skill development being at the heart of what the kids are doing. Two years ago the Junior School Internal Tennis Competition began. This allows students who are not selected in the Junior TAS Tennis teams to still be a part of tennis in the Junior School. The internal competition will see two pools of students compete in modified matches on a Saturday morning here at OC. This not only builds a depth of talent within Ormiston College Tennis, but ensures we are being inclusive of all students wishing to play sport here at the school.
More information about both Junior TAS Tennis and Touch Football will be made available throughout the next week. Round 1 for Junior TAS Tennis is on Saturday 15 October, whilst the first round for Junior TAS Touch Football takes place on Saturday 22 October.
Term 4 marks the official beginning of the swimming season in the Junior School. Some very keen swimmers have been training over the winter months, achieving some wonderful results that have been published within the Redback. I encourage all students wishing to improve their stroke development, fitness and times to contact the OC Swim Academy and begin training.
Along with the amazing work of the Swim Academy, Term 4 also sees swimming classes begin in Physical Education. Students and families should now be familiar with the Term 4 timetable and should know which day they have their swimming lesson. Please ensure students arrive with their OC swimming togs, OC rash shirt, house cap and goggles.
I look forward to another very successful swimming season at Ormiston College, culminating in the Interhouse Carnivals in Term 4 and both the Bayside and Junior TAS Carnivals in Term 1.
