Solid start in girls tennis

The OC girls tennis program had a resounding start to the season with four wins and only two losses against a formidable opponent in Redeemer.

The Year 7s had some hotly contested matches with two tiebreaks in the mix. MVP goes to Grace Huggins for clinching her tiebreak in a nail biting match (7-6). The final score here was 4/33 to 2/25.

The Year 8s were simply too good against Redeemer in Round 1. All but one set was won by the Redbacks 6-0 win, which shows a comprehensive win for the girls. MVP for this round goes to Poppy Steyger for her outstanding tennis prowess on the day.

Hats off to the Year 9 girls who played hard but were outclassed by Redeemer. MVP goes to Natasha Meek for winning the only game in the singles matches. The final result here being 0/3 to 6/36. The 10s dominated with a 6/36 to 0/16 victory, with MVP going to Ally Hui, who really shined in this round.

Another win was secured by the Seconds, with a final score of 4/30 to 2/18; bolstering our performance this round. MVP goes to Rebecca Cameron for her 6-0 singles win & another 6-0 doubles win with Denaye Eldershaw as her partner.

The Firsts only narrowly lost, with the score being 2/26 to 4/26. This one came down to the wire, but MVP goes to Jessica Manion for her convincing 6-0 singles win and for the exceptional skill she displayed on the day.

Well done to all the girls, as we look forward to Round 2 against WMAC.
