SPORTS AWARD NIGHT

The annual Sports Awards Night is held on Wednesday 28 October and is shaping up to be a terrific evening. All premiership winning teams will be awarded with pennants and MVPs from each team will take home a trophy. Students selected in Met East, State and National school sport teams will be acknowledged with a certificate as will participation at state and national level club sporting championships.

A number of other awards will be presented include:

• The Fifteeners Award to Year 12 students who have participated in every trimester of sport from Year 8 to 12.
• The Redback Spirit Award will be presented to a male and female Year 12 student who has been a member of the most number of Redback teams during their schooling.
• Most Improved Team
• Champion Team
• Most Improved Sport
• Most Successful Sport
• Coach of the Year
• Sportsman of the Year
• Sportswoman of the Year
• Outstanding Sporting Achievement

Benn Harradine was due to be our guest speaker, however, recently sustained a knee/thigh injury at the recent World Championships and has been undergoing treatment in Germany. The treatment is taking longer than planned and indicated he may not be available to be our Guest Speaker. A brief phone call to a friend of Ormiston College (well, he is married to an Old Collegian), Brisbane Lions ace Dan Rich, made my day with his willingness to be the Guest Speaker at the Sports Awards Night.

There will be some slideshows played for each trimester to sport to some live music played by students with the support of guest musician, Andy Schrav (www.andyschrav.com).
